Biosystems Engineering students learn to integrate the knowledge of biological sciences into engineering applications in order to develop practical solutions to problems associated with agricultural systems.

The objective of B.Sc. in Biosystems Engineering program is to graduate design-ready engineers prepared for professional practice by providing students with a broad foundation in the application of engineering principles to biological and agricultural systems.

There are three main fields of study in M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering program including:

A) Design of Agricultural Machines

Students in the major are trained for designing, fabricating and evaluating appropriate agricultural machines or robots for cultivation and harvest process.

B) Post-Harvest Technologies

This major is mainly programmed for training the students to learn processing, packaging and quality assessment of agro-food products

C) Renewable Energies

The main goal of this field is to teach the students how to apply renewable energies technologies in agricultural or greenhouse operations. In addition, they will be trained to produce bioenergy and bio-based fuels and products from agricultural-based biomass resources.

D) Greenhouse Engineering

From 2022, for the first time in Iran, the Department of Biosystems Engineering with collaboration with Department of Horticultural Science has started accepting students in the field of Greenhouse Engineering. The "Greenhouse Engineering" interdisciplinary curriculum contains a set of sciences and technologies that lead to the training of specialists, designers, researchers, lecturers and managers in the following areas:

  • Design and construction of greenhouses,
  • Design of control and automation systems of the greenhouse environment.
  • Greenhouse climate management by controlling and optimizing sensors, systems, and equipment.
