The Department of Food Technology was founded with the aim of training expert and efficient manpower in Food Machinery Engineering. The graduates of this field of study are expected to be human sources to provide part of the goals of self-sufficiency in the area of designing, construction and production, service and maintenance of machines and systems related to food processing plants as well as conversion and processing complexes of agricultural products. Therefore, holding different educational levels (undergraduate, master and Ph.D.) in the field of Food Machinery Engineering will meet the above objectives.

Bachelor Degree Objectives:

Bachelor of Food Machinery Engineering is a combination of science and technology in the design and construction of food industry machines. The purpose of this major is to train specialists with the knowledge of the science and technology necessary for the construction, research and development in the fields of machines and factories of food processing and agricultural products processing. The graduated students of this field will have the ability to: 1) design and manufacture new machines, 2) increase the efficiency and safety of maintenance, 3) adapt existing machines and 4) carry out research and executive projects on food industry.

The Role and Ability of Alumni:

Graduates of this field can play the following roles:

  • As an expert designer of food processing machines
  • As a technical assistant of production lines of food factories
  • As an expert specialist to assist in the planning and development of production lines and food industry systems
  • As an expert for collaboration and assistance in education and research

Laboratory Facilities:

Department has different laboratories including physics lab, chemistry lab, food industry and unit operation lab, electrical lab, strength of materials lab, welding, sheet metal and machine tools workshops and pneumatic lab. A dairy pilot for training purposes is also available.
