About The Lab

Our lab focuses on critical research of growth, development and yield of crops and medicinal plants under varying environmental stresses. A first area of our research is the assessment of mechanisms of drought, salt and oxidative tolerant and nutrition deficiency in plants, for example osmotic adjustment, enzyme activity, primary and secondary metabolites, water relationships and etc. In order to study of effects of abiotic stresses on yield and physiological traits of cereal crops (Corn, wheat, barley, rice and etc), spice and medicinal plants (Saffron, cumin, fennel and ajowan) we cultivate, compare and select the high performance plants in field and controlled conditions (e.g. growth chamber and green house). A second area of research is application of fertilizers (Macro and micro elements) and plant growth regulators (PGR) on improvment of growth and qulitative and quantitaive yield of crops and medicinal plants.

Projects

1- Assessment of environmental stress tolerant mechanisms in crops and medicinal plants.

2- Application of plant growth regulators (PGRs) on improvement of performance of crops and medicinal plants.

3- Application of fertilizers on improvement of qualitative and quantitative yield of crops and medicinal plants.

4- Optimization of Saffron production in order to commercialization and achievement of anti-cancer drugs.
